NYUNGWE NATURAL FOREST
Nyungwe Natural Forest Park is the largest mountain forest in Africa which ranges in an altitude from 1600 m to 2950 m above sea level. It’s temperature varies between 0° C and 30° C. Nyungwe is a natural forest with a high biodiversity. It’s home to 13 types of primates: chimpanzees, colobus, blue and velvet monkeys, mangabeys,…
It’s inhabitant of over 275 species of birds, some are endemic others are migrants. You find there more than 250 species of tree and more than 100 varieties of orchids. Some species of large mammals can be seen in the forest
Only primates have been habituated for tourism. Nyungwe is a beautiful forest with its old and tall trees, waterfall and so many wild flowers. For people who want to visit this place, we organize trips and you can choose either to stay at the lodge on the other side of the forest or camp in the forest as many camp sites have been created.
Zebra Country Tours organizes regularly trips to Nyungwe Natural forest Park. Our rates are affordable to every one and we try to make trips as interesting as possible.
People can choose among our different offers:
- 2 day trip Kigali- Nyanza- Butare Museum- Nyungwe- Kigali
- 3 day Kigali- Nyungwe- Kibuye-Kigali: Here we have 2 options; staying at Gisakura Guest House and in any other hotel at Kibuye or camping in the park.
- Trips can be extended on request.
- Murambi and Bisesero genocide memorials can be included in the itineraries on request.
For all those trips we offer full board accommodation either at the hotel or in camping sites. People can prefer to arrange for their own meals if they find it more interesting.
Our rates vary depending on type of car you request; jeeps or minibuses 4X4.
A 20 % discount applies for groups of more than 10 persons and for children.
